They used to spread a wide cloth on a makeshift table and eat on the floor with their family. There is not an exact date when dining tables were introduced in Pakistan but it is said to be used in the early times. Pakistan adopted the western culture and soon everyone was becoming familiar with the concept. Families became closer having dinners on dining tables, the relationship became deepened and pure. However, some people still liked having their meals on the floor. According to them, it was more lively and fun.

Inspired by the Ancient Indus Valley Civilization, discovered in 1921 by Dayaram Sahni. Located in the Indus River Valley in present day Pakistan. The two large cities are Mohenjo Daro and Harappa, in Punjab and Sindh provinces. One of the oldest cities in the world.

Raja Porus Dining Table

Raja Porus was a South Asian King, his territory spanned the region between Jhelum River (Hydaspes) and Chenab River (Acesines), in the Punjab region.

A legendary king from Jhelum known for his valor and bravery, resistance to Alexander the great. Even though he had lost his battle, he was crowned as a hero for his bravery in being such a strong and fierce opponent of Alexander.

He was defeated by Alexander in the battle of the Hydaspes also known as the Battle of Jhelum and First Battle of Jhelum in 326 BC.

The base of the Raja Porus dining table is carved by hand, the detailing of each design is extremely skilful and neat. The glass top is supported by two cross shaped hand carved pieces.

The chairs are a neutral tone with a round carved design, this dining table is extremely exquisite and elegant.

 

Mother of Pearl Dining Table
